Founded in 1992 by former Vio-lence guitarist Robert Flynn and Adam Duce. The first song on their debut album, "Davidian", features the lyrics "Let freedom ring / with a shotgun blast". Subsequently the video was banned from MTV due to its release date being very soon after the Waco Siege which it was apparently describing. Robb Flynn has since said that the song "Davidian" was not written about the Waco Siege but added that line to get people thinking. After their debut album Burn My Eyes (1994) Chris Kontos left to work with Testament and a stand in drummer was used for Machine Head's Donington slot in 1995.

I Defy Lyrics

Machine Head

Be my one, would you take my sun
Would you tell someone
Whether we had fun
With you heroes, double zeros
Running circles a round you fears
Im never ever falling again
Would you tkae my grace
Look into my face
With your limp handshake
And your smile thats fake
Would you back my fight
Say your down for life
Well its easy to say
When your words dont mean
Nothing
Anger makes me long for
A better way
Youll fear my strength
If Im backed into a cage
Because I defy
I defy
I defy
I defy
I defy
See my fate, underestimate
I intoxicate while you emulate
With the losers and users
Sucking up to the abusers
And Im never ever falling again
For the tricks you play
Or the fronts you claim
You just cant fade
The respect Ive made
Youre a parasite
You conform on site
Youre the link in the chain
That was weak and
Always will be
Anger makes me long for
A better way
Youll fear my strength
If Im backed into a cage
Because I defy
I defy
I defy
I defy
I defy
