Founded in 1992 by former Vio-lence guitarist Robert Flynn and Adam Duce. The first song on their debut album, "Davidian", features the lyrics "Let freedom ring / with a shotgun blast". Subsequently the video was banned from MTV due to its release date being very soon after the Waco Siege which it was apparently describing. Robb Flynn has since said that the song "Davidian" was not written about the Waco Siege but added that line to get people thinking. After their debut album Burn My Eyes (1994) Chris Kontos left to work with Testament and a stand in drummer was used for Machine Head's Donington slot in 1995.

A Nation On Fire Lyrics

Machine Head

Well I see, I feel
On my way
You close your eyes, scared to think
You might see
A world that spends more to kill than to cure
Living, writhing, diseased, so unpure
It hardens me, the things I see
But I wont break, it gives me strength
Chorus:
Our suffering, wont always be
Well dominate, this nation on fire
The media it
Blinds our eyes
A people divided
And force feds lies
The black and white societies corrode
Warring, hating, blind, a rage explodes
So take my hand across this land
I wont go down, stand my ground
Chorus
This nations built on fighting war after war
And for my brothers, I will fight and stand for
cause I wont break, your truth is fake
If blood ran red, yous leave me for dead
A nation on fire
A nation on fire
You tell me peace, well I hear gunshots all night
The scars I have, Ive earned cause Ive had to fight
An endless pain, and it wont change
We just sat by, and watched this world die
A nation on fire
